Bangtao Beach, which is also sometimes known by the name Laguna Beach, is possibly Phuket’s most upmarket beach location. The areas of Bangtao and Laguna are where the more expensive hotels and resorts are located, as well as being the home of golf on Phuket.

Bangtao Beach is the largest developed tourist beach on the island of Phuket. A staggering 6km long stretch of soft golden sand and crystal blue sea. However, Bangtao beach is also one of the most diverse beaches on Phuket. Some sections, especially around the area of Laguna Resort, are entirely designed to provide beach lovers with every possibly luxury they may require. Hawkers prowl the sands offering fresh seafood and barbecued meat skewers. Young girls offer full manicure and pedicure services as you sit relaxing in your sun longer. Thai massage is available right on the sand, with the cooling breeze gently rustling the palm trees, as you relax and enjoy your massage. In complete contrast, the quieter section of Bangtao Beach can be almost entirely deserted, where you will be able to find your own private stretch of sand to enjoy. In general terms, the further south along Bangtao beach you head, the more developed it becomes, with the northern section being almost entirely undeveloped.

For a break from the sun and sand, head into the small village of Cherng Talay. A traditional Southern Thai fishing village where the local inhabitants still live their life around the pattern of the tides, taking their small fleet of longtail boats out to fish every evening.

The section of Bangtao beach which is often named Laguna Beach, is the center of the upmarket hotel and resort area. People staying in and around Laguna Beach seldom need to leave their resort for anything. Resorts are built right on the sand, with terraced restaurants spilling out onto the beach. Gourmet food and cocktails are the order of the day here, enjoyed whilst relaxing in the breathtakingly landscaped environment. This is a five star beach holiday location, with every luxury on hand, but at a price.
