This intriguingly named establishment, Joe’s Downstairs, is a long standing favorite with visitors to Patong. Open for Lunch, evening cocktails, dinner and late night drinks, Joe’s Downstairs is a venue which can cover every culinary requirement.

A breath-taking location on the waterside overlooking Kalim Bay, provides diners with a taste of natural beauty along with the taste of exceptional food.

Located upon the very fringe of Kalim Beach, White Box is part restaurant, part music lounge, commanding breath-taking views across Patong Bay. Minimalist décor and pastel shades reflect the crystal blue waters of the bay, forming an exquisite backdrop to one of Patong’s premier eateries.

White Box was originally a beach house, and has be redesigned to lend a real Mediterranean ambiance, fusing Western and Asian culture in a paradise haven away from the tourist crowds of Phuket.

It seems that no vacation destination in Thailand is complete without its very own Irish Pub, and Patong is no exception. However, where Patong does differ is in the quality of its Irish offering, in the shape of Scruffy Murphy’s. Much more than simply an Irish themed beer bar, Scruffy Murphy’s offers a full Irish experience in the very heart of Patong on Bangla Road.

Scruffy Murphy’s is particularly well known for its food, which includes the famous 99 Baht breakfast, which is hard to beat.

Nicky's Handlebar

Theme bars are not a new concept, and Patong certainly has its fair share of venues which attempt to present a certain theme or concept. However, none of them does it with as much style as Nicky’s Handle Bar. Where most them bars are happy to decorate in the right colors, hang a few pictures on the wall and then call themselves a theme bar, Nicky’s Handle Bar goes the whole hog, quite literally, as this is a Harley Davidson themed bar. If you are in to hogs, rock music and good fun, then Nicky’s Handle Bar is for you.

Sea Hag

Sea Hag is located just off Beach Road, close to Patong Bay. The restaurant is fairly easy to find thanks to the large yellow sign outside. If you enjoy Italian food then you will adore La Dolce Vista. This is Patong’s top Italian restaurant, and for good reason, the food is truly authentic, prepared using imported herbs and spices for a real taste of old Italy.

La Dolce Vista can be a little hard to locate, as it is tucked away down a side street, close to the center of Patong. However, it is well worth tracking down, simply for its authenticity and exceptional service.

Babylon Beach Club Phuket

It is a sad fact that many beach front restaurants on Phuket become victims of their own success. Once the word gets out that they offer quality food at a reasonable price, then they soon become jam packed with customers, thus ruining the ambiance. Babylon Beach Club is a rarity in the fact it has maintained its exclusivity despite becoming extremely popular.

Babylon Beach Club continues to target the expat community as its main customer base, and for this reason it is very competitively priced.

Eating Thai street food is a culinary experience like no other. These simple Thai kitchens line the streets in many places, typified by a small stall or cart, some cheap plastic chairs and folding tables. Don’t let this rather ramshackle image fool you, the presentation may be somewhat lacking but the food can be as good if not better than a restaurant charging ten times as much.

Street food vendors can be found on almost any Thai street, operating from the early hours of the morning and on into the night.

If you enjoy good seafood and your budget will not run to one of the chic beach front seafood restaurants, then a visit to Mengrai Seafood Market is definitely in order. This collection of some twenty street stalls is the place to find locally caught seafood, cooked fresh and served at an incredibly low price. However, Mengrai Seafood Market is a little tricky to find, as it is tucked away down a very narrow Soi (small road), if you cannot find it then ask for directions to Mengrai Food Alley, which is just off Bangla Road, opposite Soi Eric.
