Central Festival Shopping Centre
The Central Festival chain of shopping malls are well known throughout Thailand. One can be found in or nearby to just about every large tourist area including Bangkok and Pattaya. The Phuket Central Festival is the newest, and arguably the best of them all.
Although not actually in Patong, there is a free shuttle bus operating three times per day. Driving east back over the Patong Hill, Central Festival is located about a 20 minute drive from Patong and just before reaching Phuket Town.
Central Festival is also the only Phuket Mall with such a huge range of well-known western retail outlets, including Marks & Spencer, Samsonite Luggage, Power Buy, Super Sports and also boasts a massive IT section and over 30 mobile phone stores.
A full range of goods are available within the approximate 150 shops in the mall, with a focus on designer wear, although most other product types can be found including bedding, toys, clothing and children's wear, jewellery and watches. Designer clothing is often discounted, and some good bargains can be found if you are prepared to spend some time searching. Central Festival is fully air conditioned which makes for a nice relief when the temperature is pushing 35 degrees outside.
Carrefour Hypermarket is very popular with the ex-pat community and carries a whole range of western foods and items which cannot be found elsewhere in Thailand. Other products to be found range from jeans, laptop computers, books, silk, and there is always a food court on hand in most Thai malls selling sushi, Indian, French and of course plenty of delicious Thai meals.
The large B2S department store (Books to Stationary) contains books in both Thai and English as well as a huge range of CDs and DVDs. Prices here a a little higher than what you would find on the streets of Patong and in the markets but they are the real thing and mostly cheaper than home.
SuperSports is the largest sporting goods brand in all of Thailand. Just about all of the top brands are here and many bargains can be found for a fraction of what you would pay at home. Look out for any sales and promotions here. Located on the 3rd floor.
PowerBuy is another department store within the Central complex selling electronics, appliances, ovens and furniture. Many of the products on sale are probably not relevant for those on a holiday of beach and partying in Patong, but more suitable for the local ex-pat community of Phuket.
Central Festival wouldn't be complete without an Office Depot. Why not pick up some ink cartridges and staple clips while on your holiday?
If you like Patong's Jungceylon Shopping Mall, then you could easily spend the whole day at Central Festival shopping, dining or catching the latest movie. Plenty of parking available here if arriving by car or motorbike.
