Phuket Zoo

Phuket Zoo is a Zoo like no other in Thailand. Phuket Zoo resides within a 12 acre lush, landscaped tropical garden. Plenty of aged trees offer shade, as you stroll around this serene tropical paradise. Narrow waterways, crossed by using small bridges, create a series of islands within the park. Each island is home to a difference species of animal.

Each year Phuket adds to the variety of animals, birds, fish and reptiles which visitors may encounter. Additionally, the zoo operates some of the most advanced breeding projects in Thailand, and is helping to protect many endangered species, all of which can be found within the zoo. You will see everything from elephants to emus, and a whole range of smaller animals which are indigenous to Thailand.

There are several shows put on each day to entertain visitors, and refreshments are available everywhere, with small stalls and shops selling drinks, ice cream and snacks scattered all over the zoo.

It is best to allocate a whole day to visit Phuket Zoo, as it can take some time to walk around the parkland and take everything in. This is especially true for families, as children will no doubt want to see several of the shows the Zoo arranges each day.

Phuket Zoo is arguably one of the best of its kind in Thailand, definitely worth visiting whilst you are on vacation, to see the typically Thai take on the western concept of a Zoo. Part zoological garden, part nature park, entirely Thai.

Phuket Zoo is quite easy to find, it is located at 23/2 Moo 3, Soi Palai, Chaofah Road, Muang, Phuket, and is a short 25 minute taxi ride form the center of Patong.
