There is so much to see and do on Phuket, especially around Patong, that it can be hard to fit it all into a single vacation. If you don’t have your own transport things become even more difficult. If you want to get around some of the places that are more than a short walk from Patong Beach, then you should consider renting a motorcycle.
Basic scooters are available in several engines sizes, usually 100cc, 110cc and 125cc. Both automatic and semi-automatic are offered for rent by every motorcycle rental shop. You will also be given a complimentary crash helmet when you rent your motorcycle, be sure to wear this at all times. Not only are Phuket roads dangerous, but police will stop you and issue a spot fine if they catch you without your helmet.

For people who prefer larger motorcycles, a full range are available, from Japanese sports bikes, the CBR 400 being a popular rental bike, to Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
Renting a motorcycle whilst staying on the Island of Phuket is possibly the best way to make sure you can access all of the major sights and attractions. Some of the best places to visit on your rented motorcycle are:

Promthep Cape Viewpoint, possibly one of the best places in the world to watch the sunset. Located between Rawai and Nai Harn, at the top of a winding coast road. During the summer months bus loads of Thai people visit the cape each evening, just to witness the sun go down.
Kata Viewpoint is another amazing location which is easily reached by motorcycle. From the viewpoint visitors are rewarded by magnificent views across Kata and Nai Harn bays.
